I am a freelance translator offering translations to and from English and Swedish. I was born in Sweden and moved to Scotland at the age of 21 and have lived here all my adult life. Swedish is my mother tongue, while English is the language I most commonly use. I have a very active interest in languages, both through formal studies as well as travel and reading. I achieved my Open University Diploma in Spanish in 2001.
Language is something that is alive, changing and evolving constantly and is therefore a life-long learning process, not merely achieved through a degree. In the end, the quality of a translation depends not only on the academic skill, but also on the general cultural awareness and experience.
My work over the years, particularly in administration, has given me a lot of experience as well as skills. I am organised, thorough and pay great attention to detail. I am self motivated and able to manage my own time, set work schedules and meet specific deadlines.
I hold a Professional Indemnity Insurance.
